On April 30, the M3DAS project team held a validation workshop with key stakeholders in attendance. The activity took place at Starhomes Café in Tarlac City, Tarlac.
The workshop focused on presenting the initial findings of the mechanization resource survey in Tarlac Mill District and gathering feedback from the participants to validate the results. Representatives from across the sugarcane industry participated, including the Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA), Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office III – Regional Agricultural Engineering Division (DA RFO III – RAED), Provincial Agricultural Office of Tarlac, Tarlac City Agricultural Office, Municipal Agricultural Office of Concepcion, and block farm and planters representatives from Maunlad Sugar Planters Association, NCPAT-Magaspac Gerona Sugarcane Block Farm, NCPAT-San Raymundo Sugarcane Block Farm, and Guiteb Ramos Planters Association. Additionally, the Mill District Officer of Tarlac and Pampanga Mill Districts, Mr. Lucio Santiago III was also in attendance along with M3DAS project staff, coordinator and enumerator.
The activity allowed the participants to assess the surveyed data, provide feedback, and share insights on the state of mechanization in the area. These contributions help improve planning and guide future mechanization efforts in Tarlac Mill District.
The M3DAS project is being implemented by the Center for Agri-fisheries and Biosystems Mechanization (BIOMECH) of the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) and is funded by DOST-PCAARRD in collaboration with the SRA.
