On February 27, 2025, the M3DAS team met with Engr. Laverne C. Olalia, Manager III of the Research, Development, and Extension (RDE) Department for Luzon and Mindanao, at the Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA) Main Office in Quezon City. The meeting served as a critical session to review the momentum of the SRA-funded project, โ€œResource Field Evaluation and Spatial Analysis Using the M3DAS Web Application for Mechanization Assessment of the Sugarcane Industry.โ€

Key Project Milestones Presented
The M3DAS team provided a comprehensive briefing on the projectโ€™s current trajectory, highlighting several operational successes:

Digital Infrastructure: Updates on the continued refinement of the M3DAS web application.

Qualitative Insights: Results from recent Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) and Key Informant Interviews (KIIs).

Enumeration Progress: The current status of data gathering for sugarcane machinery and implements nationwide.

Analytical Trends: A presentation of preliminary data analysis and its implications for the industry.

Multi-Departmental Collaboration
The session was attended by a diverse group of SRA officials, ensuring that the project aligns with the agency’s broader technical and planning objectives:

ABE Division: Engr. Patricio R. Macamos (OIC) and Engr. Jean Paul G. Quirino.

Planning & Policy: Ms. Felina M. Quiambao.

RDE & Extension: Ms. Jobelle L. Waje and Mr. Patrick John A. Dela China.

MIS & Systems: Mr. Bren F. Tique.

Commitment to Sustainability
A primary outcome of the meeting was the formalization of a Technology Transfer plan. To ensure the long-term sustainability of the system, the SRA committed to designating personnel for intensive training on the M3DAS system. This move guarantees that once the project phase concludes, the SRA will have the in-house capacity to maintain, update, and utilize the platform for ongoing mechanization assessments.

This engagement reinforces the shared vision of M3DAS and the SRA to overcome industry challenges through data-driven planning and modern digital tools.
