In a significant stride toward completing its Year 2 implementation, the M3DAS project team conducted an extensive data-gathering mission across the provinces of Bukidnon, Cotabato, and Davao del Sur from October 1โ€“11, 2024.

The mission utilized a series of targeted Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) to engage directly with:

Block Farm Leaders: Gaining ground-level insights into diverse sugarcane farming practices.

Mill District Development Councils (MDDCs): Aligning project goals with regional industry standards and administrative data.

Strategic Objectives
The primary focus of these engagements was to examine the current status of sugarcane mechanization within each mill district. By establishing this robust baseline, the team can:

Map Farming Profiles: Document the specific cultural and operational practices unique to Mindanaoโ€™s sugarcane regions.

Verify Mechanical Assets: Create a reliable reference for validating the results of the upcoming comprehensive enumeration of sugarcane machinery and implements.

Ensure Data Accuracy: Strengthen the analytical framework used to assess the mechanized state of the industry across the entire Mindanao Island.

This proactive baseline assessment ensures that the projectโ€™s final analysis is grounded in the lived realities of Mindanaoan planters, paving the way for more effective and localized mechanization strategies.
