From October 7 to 9, 2025, the M3DAS team conducted focus group discussions (FGDs) with a block farm and a private association, as well as key informant interview (KII) with a progressive farmer in Pampanga, which served as the last key site for the projectโs Phase III implementation.
The team met with Mr. Junn Guinto Tolentino Jr. of the Pampanga Sugar Planters Agriculture Cooperative, Mr. Ramon del Rosario of Mitla Proper Farmers Association and Municipal Agriculturist of Porac, and Dr. Richard Torno of Atbu Farmerโs Association. The insights gathered from the planters will be used to create a preliminary profile of the mill district, which will help M3DAS drive improvements across the national sugarcane industry.
The M3DAS project is an initiative by the Center for Agri-fisheries and Biosystems Mechanization (BIOMECH) of the University of the Philippines Los Baรฑos (UPLB), funded by the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (DOST-PCAARRD), in partnership with the Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA).
