On September 5, 2024, the M3DAS team held a series of pivotal engagements at the Pongos Hotel in Ormoc City, Leyte, marking a significant milestone in data accuracy and project governance.
Morning Session: Stakeholder Validation Workshop
The day commenced with a comprehensive Validation Workshop designed to verify field data collected from the OrmocโHISUMCO Mill District. This collaborative session allowed stakeholders to review preliminary data analysis, ensuring the project’s outputs align with the actual needs of the local industry.
The workshop saw active participation from a diverse assembly of leaders and organizations, including:
Key Cooperatives & Associations: BAP-MPC, OLFAMCA, OSPA, UNIFARM, and Punta Alegria Farm, Inc.
Industry & Local Governance: The OrmocโKananga Mill District Development Council (MDDC) and officials from the LGU of Ormoc.
Government Partners: Representatives from DA-RAED (Region 8), the Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA), and DOST-PCAARRD.
This participatory approach is vital for refining mechanization planning methods specifically tailored to the unique landscape of Leyte. The session concluded with strong consensus and enthusiastic support from all attendees.
